Creating a solid foundation for reading, writing, and spelling is essential for lifelong learning. Rx Reading Fundamental Therapy adopts a biological and cognitive developmental perspective to support early learners facing challenges in phonology, syllable instruction, fluency, morphology, and reading comprehension. This therapy not only builds essential skills but also fosters confidence in students as they develop their abilities in reading, writing, and spelling. It is particularly beneficial for those who need to master fundamental skills, as well as for students who may rely on procedural knowledge without a deeper conceptual understanding.
Rx Reading Fundamental Therapy uses the biological and cognitive developmental perspective to guide early struggling learners in phonology, syllable instruction, fluency, morphology, and reading comprehension.
Therapy builds and strengthens confidence in reading, writing and spelling. Students who need to master basic reading, writing, and spelling skills, as well as those who rely on procedural understanding without a conceptual understanding, would benefit the most from this program.
Handwriting impacts the brain and there is a link between handwriting, reading, and spelling.
RX Writing therapy will build and strengthen
Students who need to master basic grammar and writing skills will most benefit from this program.
After assessment which looks to see what developmental processes require strengthening an Rx for Writing program is designed. This therapy is used when a child is not struggling with the physical mechanics of writing (i.e., pencil grip, hand strength, fine motor movements etc.).
RX Writing therapy will build and strengthen
Students who need to master basic grammar and writing skills will most benefit from this program.
Though handwriting and spelling skills are utilized and applied, these skills are not explicitly taught in this intervention. Students will be challenged to apply their growing understanding of grammar to the creation of
Students will be implementing grammar, spelling and usage rules when editing their own written work as well as the written work of others. Language and higher-level thinking skills will be developed and supported in this interactive, small-group intervention that covers research-based writing content while mediation, Socratic questioning, and the strengthening of cognitive functions will serve as the core methodology.
Note, this therapy assists children who have struggles in grammar, semantics, syntax, and composition writing skills and not the physical ability to write (for example, pencil grip/grasp patterns, dynamic finger movements, finger mobility, joint positioning and joint integrity). If both areas are a concern, please see Services, Comprehensive Writing Instruction.
This intervention focuses on developing specific aspects of general writing knowledge, including ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, presentation, letter and number analysis, sound and sight spelling rules, and writing from memory.
In this engaging program, students will enhance their written expression skills while simultaneously strengthening their thinking and language abilities. The instruction is delivered in a supportive environment that explicitly teaches writing skills, helping to reduce anxiety and reluctance to write while maximizing cognitive engagement.
The program consists of two 45-minute sessions each week, allowing for a collaborative atmosphere where 2-4 siblings or other children facing similar challenges can learn together.
Additionally, an extra 15 minutes can be added to focus on specific goals set by parents and students, targeting areas such as writing, spelling, or body image and self-regulation.
A therapy that helps students struggling with math fluency, number sense, math vocabulary and problem-solving.
Rx 4 Math Level 1 Therapy builds and strengthens number sense, math fluency, math vocabulary, and problem-solving strategies.
Students who need to master basic number sense skills as well as those who rely on procedural understanding without a conceptual understanding would benefit the most from this program. Students will be challenged to apply their growing understanding of number sense to novel problem-solving activities that challenge thinking and reasoning. Rx 4 Math Level 1 Therapy builds and strengthens number sense, math fluency, math vocabulary, and problem-solving strategies.
Students who need to master basic number sense skills as well as those who rely on procedural understanding without a conceptual understanding, would benefit the most from this program.
To ensure this therapy is appropriate for the student, an initial evaluation must be conducted. This evaluation is completed separate from the therapy terms and is specific to math achievement and abilities. A full report is reviewed with the parent. Assessments fees are not included into the costs and take approximately 60 minutes.
Students will be challenged to apply their growing understanding of number sense and engage in novel problem-solving activities that challenge thinking and reasoning.
Dyscalculia is a math learning disability that impairs an individual’s ability to learn number-related concepts, perform accurate math calculations, reason and problem solve, and perform other basic math skills. Dyscalculia is sometimes called “number dyslexia” or “math dyslexia.
Individuals with dyscalculia have difficulties with all areas of mathematics — problems not explained by a lack of proper education, intellectual disabilities, or other conditions.

Progress monitoring is completed every three months, with weekly progress mini-reviews completed and provided to the parents. Annual progress review is completed and comparisons are gathered with initial testing. Reports are generated and reviewed with the parents. There are no fees for monthly, weekly reviews, and annual reviews as they will be incorporated into a weekly therapy session.
Hands-on, research-based, and number-sense activities will be utilized as the core content in this dynamic intervention, while mediation, Socratic questioning, and the strengthening of cognitive functions will serve as the core methodology.
In this dynamic intervention, students’ foundational math concepts will be strengthened while their thinking and problem-solving skills will be challenged, all within an atmosphere where math anxiety is reduced, and thinking is maximized.
Students will foster the understanding of what numbers mean as well as think and reason flexibly with numbers, use numbers to solve problems, spot unreasonable answers, understand how numbers can be taken apart and put together in different ways, see connections among operations, figure mentally, and make estimates. Further, your student will strengthen their conceptual understanding of numbers and encourage the development of self-generated mathematical strategies for efficient mathematical methods that help them become independent math thinkers.
